From March, initial works will commence on our plans to deliver a reinvigorated shopping, dining and entertainment experience for Galleria.
As part of these works, we will be replacing escalators alongside Myer as well as demolition works, services upgrades and tenancy defits.
This is a significant step forward in our plans for the broader redevelopment of the centre and ensures that we are best prepared to commence with the main project works later this year.
We thank you for your continued support of the retailers at Galleria and we look forward to providing updates as we progress our plans to bring you a reimagined Galleria.
We are working through our plans to revitalise Galleria, starting with initial works to prepare the Centre for the main project, which is expected to commence later this year.
These works include replacing the escalators alongside Myer, as well as demolition works, tenancy defits and services upgrades.
We expect that these initial works will continue until the main project is expected to commence later this year. Altogether, we anticipate the main works will take up to 24 months. Works are being staged with customer and retailer convenience in mind.
It is a challenging market environment to deliver private sector projects, and we acknowledge that progress has taken longer than we would have liked.
Galleria will remain open throughout the works. Works will be undertaken in stages and wherever possible, disruption will be kept to a minimum.
We’re improving our fashion and youth retail offering to include some of the nation's most popular brands, as well as introducing a new alfresco dining area, known as The Terrace. The Terrace will sit adjacent to the existing Cinema. We look forward to sharing some of these brands and the design more broadly with you as we move closer to commencing development.
Shoppers can expect an improved fashion, youth and electronic retail offering, along with a new dining and entertainment precinct. We are looking forward to sharing updates about the new retailers joining Galleria in the coming months.
We’re looking to move the focus of fast food and restaurant dining to be closer to Greater Union Cinema, creating a more destination offering. The old food court area will welcome additional fashion, youth and electronics retail offerings.
We remain committed to working closely with our existing retailers pre, during and post any development. Our efforts around staging the works are driven by retail and customer considerations, including minimising disruptions to trade.
